So I got to see this last night...I never read the books. I really enjoyed it, it'll be one of those I buy pretty soon after it releases on DVD.
It moved a bit too slow at parts, then a tad too quickly towards the end. But I really enjoyed it alot. The CG work on the Fauns(sp?) is great, same for the Centaurs and such. Not to mention theres awesome Griffins and a fucking Phoenix. Oh yes. It lights some shit up. <3
AND then theres the Lion, I think his name is Arslan or Arislan. He looked so damn real. Since Disney helped make it, you can tell they do a similiar thing with CG work that they do when they animate...the eyes and eyebrows are a bit accentuated at times to show emotion. If not for that, they could have CG'd that over a picture of some plains in Africa and you'd have never known the difference...very nice ^.^

I love it how some critics were getting their panties in a twist because Santa Claus was shown in the movie, or mentioned idk. At any rate, if they're so damn worried about religion being pressed on people, they should boot the lion out. But wait, that would drop ticket sales

Yeah my mom told me about it and then I forgot. I should start putting disclaimers in my posts saying I'm not sure of the info so I don't get bashed.
There's nothing worse than jumping in a heated argument without the right info.

In the movie, Aslan is portrayed as a male Lion, assured by the large fluffy mane he has. That and they call him the "King of Narnia". As far as I know, I thought it was a male in the book too, depicted by the Lion with the large mane, which the female lions dont grow. And yes, Santa Clause was in the movie. He was in the book too from what Nathan recalls, but its been years since he read it. He's not painfully obvious though at first...til he starts giving the kids things. Hes wearing a very dark red outfit, and yes he has a sleigh with deer pulling it, but so does the evil Queen bitch.

He is never known as 'Santa Clause', he is called Father Christmas in the book (read it thrice) and the movie.

I didnt see any red-nosed reindeer XD and in the movie they never said his name. I would assume Father Christmas is the same as Santa Clause since the Faun, Mr. Tumners(sp?) said they hadnt had Christmas in a long time, and if I recall, the Santa-esque guy said he'd been away for a while and said that he'd been driving a sleigh for many many years.
But I would assume they are the same guy since who ELSE has a beard like that, a sleigh pulled by about 8 reindeer, dresses in red, is kinda hefty and jolly, and gives out "toys" to children? Since in the movie the youngest girl, Lucy, said "Oh, toys!" When he opened the bag of gifts, and he said that what he was giving her wasn't a toy, and that it was important.
