I've probably played just as many PS1 games on my PS2 as I have actual PS2 games, and I bet as it is now a lot people play their old playstation games on the PS3. Great job making it even more useless.
On the matter of Smash bros: Thank you Japan Time for finally giving us a way to have low gravity and all metal matches.

Since Zophar brought it up... Today update was... Special BrawlIn Melee you may recall there were special melee such as Giant Melee. Well it appears this mode allows a mix and match of different properties of those modes and create odd and ends matches. You can created super screwed up melee matches such as this:

Oh... My... GAWD. I thought we were finished with those twirps... oh well a character is a character I suppose... Ice ClimbersThe one in blue is Popo. The one in pink is Nana. And the two of them get along great! ...I think.
These two move as a pair, with Nana automatically following along. There’s safety in numbers—protect and be protected! Now don't get me wrong, I understand why they are included due to there unusual fighting nature... however this doesn't weaken my absolute HATE for these two. HATE I say!

Yes they removed the emotion chip but that doesn't mean it is not backwards compatible. Sony is just using a different method to play the old PS2 and PS1 games, it's just that they're having to update a list of old games to play.
In other words the emotion chip was upping the costs so they nixed it. Now they have to do something about backwards compatibility so they're adding games to work with their new setup.
EDIT: To stay on topic, the ice climbers seem to have gotton better looking parkas, I wonder if that's all? >_>

Today's update includes one of the big desire features: Wifi PlayHe does go into the issue about Lags and such he pretty stated to obivious, distance between brawlers may have a impact on the connection. As with most Wifi battles games you have two options: Friend Mode which includes anyone Wii Code you input and allows you to see them online: You are permitted to change the icon on your display picture, you can also customize small phrases that attach to the up, down, left, and right on the d-pad of your control There appear to be multipy modes for friend brawls as well but nothing has been specificed With Anyone Mode, like most wifi games oppenents are selected from those searching for a game, the difference is that you cannot see the names of your oppenent nor can you use the messages at all. Unlike Friend mode this mode as no effect to your score (I don't know what Score they are directly referring to) Funny extra is that you can practice on the gold ole' sandbag while waiting.... It sounds like there planning for other things to use Wifi as well but specifics about them are said to be spoken on later.

The first of the 3rd party characters even if already know: SnakeThe legendary mercenary makes his miraculous Smash debut! This law-breaking news roared around the world.
He comes fully loaded with cool and showy weapons that only he could possess. Couple them with these different worlds, and it will clear a path to new horizons. I've never played any of the Metal Gear Games, so I don't know much about this character but oddly... he seems out of place for some reason XD

woohoo! BEST out-the-middle-of-fucking-nowhere addition I've seen. Snake is the man. He makes Master Chief look like a pansy 5 year old bitch little girl with braided pigtails.
And that's saying something cause I like Master Chief... >_>

Mr. Resetti is gangster. I could see him being yakuza. Too bad he doesn't work for Tom Nook.
