I used to enjoy writing for the sake of writing. So I decided to start a blog just to do whatever crosses my mind: draginhikari.blogspot.com/I spend alot of time tonight typing up a rather long post... you don't need to read the majority because it's mostly gaming anaylzing but feel free to give opinions and such. This is my first piece in a long time so excuse me if it's not the best of work XD

general tips 1. Spelling and grammar check 2. After the checks re-read to see if you can snag anything they might have missed. 3. Try not to use anything too complicated (ex: the word "accrue" with 90% of the people who would read this writing like, "no u r rong" they're not likely to have the best vocabulary) 4. Keep writing, just keep at it. Get a topic you like and let it rip. 5. Repeat step 4 6. Work on developing a clear style something that sets you apart from other writers.
Aside from that, well written.

I will admit that my spelling and grammer isn't the best especially since it's been a long time since I've seriously written anything. hopefully that will get better as I do more of it. I did read over it however, I must admit editting my own writing at 3 in the morning is probably NOT to best time to do so XD

I concur. I stick to MS Word for editing everything, but that's generally just spelling and minor grammatical errors. Afterward, I read back over it and change the text to a different color to mark the place where I left off proof-reading.
I've probably changed the beginning of the RPG Thread 50 times now, at least.

Normally I would have done the same but currently my trial copy of Office has expired so I've got to wait till I can get a copy to use word... Blogger does have a standard spellchecker on it at least. More then anything this first piece was merely an attempt on my part to give myself an idea of what I am good at and what I'm not XD At the moment it feels like my work is missing something I either used to have or am more aware that I don't have now. Can't put my finger on it exactly yet. This was something I just went with because I had alot to say on it and I just kinda let it flow. A test piece so to speak.

My copy ended up crapping out on me I had to get 2007... Grammar and spelling will handle themselves as you keep at it, then you get the satisfaction of the check finding nothing wrong.

Heh, I wouldn't count on it ever getting that good, being better then it is right now would be helpful. Wanting to write is one thing... trying to find something to inspire me to write is a little harder XD

I have an awesome muse, the trouble is... anything I write for her is not fit for others to see I'm not entirely sure how to take that exactly XD Well I want to write my original story that involves my original characters, but I don't feel quite confident in my writing at this point to write that. So for now I think I'll stick to topical or thought based writing.

You could email me the file and I can proof-read and edit it for you, if you'd like. I've gotten quite quick from doing it so much with the rpg thread.
I've had th change a lot of the stuff around in there though. Nothing serious, just like certain sentence structures had to be rewritten, etcetera.

The funny thing is I had my story started long ago but an unexpected computer crash that killed it so I'd techincally be rewriting it. XD I only had a few chapters done intinally so I guess it could have been worse.

Emerald Star Legacy
Kamotan, a distant world that orbits an unnatural star that burns with emerald green flames. Four large continents and several large islands make up the landscape of this mysterious world, home of six unique races. A world filled with wondrous beauty and culture. This world, however, has a devastating secret. Every millennium, an unknown disaster strikes this world, the history and civilizations built are left in ruin leaving behind only a hand full of each race alive. Having entirely forgotten their past the remnants would be forced to rebuild their society over and over in a never ending cycle.
Since no one has ever recalled these events, no one has ever been able to predict it or attempt to halt this cycle. So life continues on, with no concern of this dreadful event…
Emerald Star Legacy is my original story concept that I’ve been stringing together here and there for several years now. I’ve gotten to the point where I feel confident enough to start working on it. This is merely the bare bones of my story and I hope to discuss more about it in the upcoming future. For now my intent to merely post it on my blog or other locations, but we’ll see what happens.
This probably sounds pretty cliche at the moment, but we'll see what I can do with it.
